This policy explains what information SecXChat (“SecXChat”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use our messaging service, why we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. SecXChat is a chat app with 1:1 and group messages, voice and video calls, status updates, a community feed, an in-app wallet and the optional SecX Verified subscription.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your mobile phone number (used as your account ID and to send you one-time sign-in codes), the name you choose, and optionally a username, “about” text, profile and cover photos and an email address (used for sign-in codes and account security).
- Security settings: your two-step verification PIN and chat-lock PINs are stored only as one-way hashes.
- Contacts: if you allow it, the phone numbers in your address book are uploaded so we can show which of your contacts use SecXChat and apply “My contacts” privacy settings. We use them only for these features.
- Content: messages, photos, videos, voice notes, documents, stickers, reactions, status updates, community posts and comments, and the chats you star or organise into lists.
- Support: what you send us through Help and feedback (including an optional screenshot and, if you choose, basic app information such as app version, device type and browser).
Information collected automatically
- Usage and connection data: when you were last online, typing and delivery/read status, call history (who, when, duration), and an approximate country from your IP address (used to pre-select your country code and wallet currency).
- Device and log data: IP address, browser or app version, device type and error logs, used to keep the service secure and working.
- Invites: if you join through a friend’s invite link, we record which invite link you used.
- On your device: the app stores settings, a sign-in cookie and a copy of recent chats in your browser or app storage so it opens quickly and works offline.
2. How we use information
- To create and secure your account, sign you in and verify your phone number or email.
- To deliver, sync and back up your messages, calls, statuses and posts.
- To apply your privacy settings (last seen, online, profile photo, about, status, read receipts, groups).
- To run the wallet and SecX Verified subscription, including renewals and records of transactions.
- To answer support requests and fix problems you report.
- To prevent spam, fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, and act on reports and bans.
- To understand overall usage and improve reliability and performance.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not use the content of your messages for advertising.
3. Messages, calls and media
To deliver your messages to all your devices and keep your chat history, SecXChat stores messages and shared media on its servers until they are deleted. Messages are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Please note that messages are not end-to-end encrypted: they are stored on our servers in a form the service can process, protected by access controls.
- Deleting: “Delete for me” hides a message from your view; “Delete for everyone” (available for a limited time after sending) removes its content for all participants. Starred messages that are deleted are removed from your Starred list.
- Locked chats hide the chat preview and content behind your PIN on your devices.
- Voice and video calls are connected peer-to-peer where possible; when a direct connection is not possible they are relayed through our call relay server. We do not record calls. We keep the call log (participants, time, duration).
- Broadcast messages are delivered as individual messages, and only to recipients who have saved your number in their contacts.
- SecXChat AI: if you chat with the built-in AI assistant, your messages to it are sent to a third-party AI model provider to generate replies. Do not share sensitive personal information with the AI.
4. Wallet and subscriptions
If you use the wallet or SecX Verified, we keep your balance, your transaction history (amount, currency, date, method and status), your subscription plan and its renewal dates. We use this to provide the feature, prevent duplicate or fraudulent charges, handle withdrawal requests and meet record-keeping duties. Card and bank details entered with a payment provider are processed by that provider under its own privacy policy; SecXChat does not store full card numbers.
6. What other people can see
Your name and phone number are visible to people you chat with. Who can see your profile photo, about, last seen and online status, and status updates is controlled in Settings › Privacy (Everyone, My contacts or Nobody). Community posts, comments, follower counts and public profile details are visible according to the visibility you choose for each post. Group members can see each other’s names and numbers inside the group.
7. How long we keep information
- Account information: while your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile is removed and your account can no longer be used; some records may remain for a limited time in backups or where we must keep them (for example transaction records, or information about bans for abuse).
- Messages and media: until you or the other participants delete them, or the account is deleted. Status updates disappear after 24 hours.
- Verification codes expire within minutes. Support requests are kept for as long as needed to handle them and improve the service.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections, hashed PINs, signed sign-in cookies, rate limits and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your verification codes and PINs private — SecXChat staff will never ask you for them.
9. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and privacy settings at any time in the app.
- Block or report anyone from their chat or profile.
- Delete messages, chats, statuses and posts, or delete your account in Settings › Account.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by writing to support@secxchat.com from the app’s Help and feedback page. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under data-protection law, including the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
10. Children
SecXChat is not intended for children. You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law in your country requires it, to use SecXChat. Some community content is limited to users who confirm they are 18 or older. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as SecXChat changes. We will show the new effective date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app. Questions or requests: support@secxchat.com or Settings › Help and feedback › Contact us.
